Message from Deputy Commissioner

The Official Website of Ukhrul District, Manipur.

I congratulate citizens of Ukhrul district on celebration of 66th Republic day celebration of India. On 26th January 1950 India became republic. This is the day when majority of the provisions of constitution of India came into force. On the 15th August 1947 was the day India achieved its political freedom, on 26th January 1950, it committed its citizens their rights and social and economic freedom as citizens of the country.

Government has made many efforts in the last 65 years to implement the provisions of Indian constitution. Although it must be acknowledged that far more needs to be achieved in terms of providing economic and social freedom to all sections of the society. Ukhrul, being a tribal and backward district, there is all the more necessity to provide the rights promised by the constitution of India. District Administration is aware of the aspirations of the people of Ukhrul and is committed to bring change in their lives.

We mus also remember that just as the constitution provides various rights; it also prescribes certain duties for its citizens. We mus remember that rights and duties are the 2 sides of the same coins. Therefore, it is also the responsibility of citizens to perform the duties and contribute to the nation building. On this auspicious occasion today, I appeal to all citizens of Ukhrul district to join hands with the District administration for progress and prosperity of our district.
